Battalion - Spirit Of Ulster

Having the pleasure of meeting the band a week before they send me their latest CD offering was impressive enough but here we have an exceptional collection of 15 classic Loyalist songs by Lisa and Davy aka Battalion.

Our favourite tune, infact the inspiration of this station, "Spirit Of Ulster", is the opening track sung superbly by Lisa, "36th Ulster Division", Davy sings a new twist to the Platoon favourite, Lisa once again takes the mic with a great rendition of, "Daddy's Uniform", another classic, "Gunrunners" follows and Davy's vocals are impressive, "UVF/RHC Hero", is by far for me the best song on the CD, Lisa definately giving Bette Midler a run for her money!, "Some Gave All", Davy steps up and delivers vocally once more! Following on is the Loyalist Favourite,"Green Fields Of France", a great duet with both Lisa & Davy, "Here Lies A Soldier", A blast from the past but classly delivered by Davy as is "Billy McFadzean", Lisa has one of the strongest vocals I've heard in years, simply outstanding! "Fathers Advice", Platoon's classic once more updated by Battalion sung by Davy,"Ulsters Fighting Young Men", Lisa picks up the mic updating this track off their last CD, "Honour & Valour", Davy takes the stage with a great cover of "YCV Brigade", Meanwhile Lisa treats us all to a great version of "Hands Across The Water" which flows into the rousing, "Number 1 Platoon", Well sung again, Davy! Then it's sadly the last track, "Ulster's Best", and boy what a song to finish on with Lisa as impressive as ever......Brilliant Stuff from Battalion.

Battalion have came a long way over their last few productions, backing band and the vocalists ensuring an enjoyable hour's worth of top quality entertainment on this CD.

"The Spirit Of Ulster Through The Years", reads the cover, wise words indeed as this CD will be played over and over for years to come! A surefire hit and a worthy addition to any Loyalist music collection!

Many thanks to John, Lisa & Davy and The Spirit Of The Red Hand for letting me review this CD!

Available now from all Loyalist music sources & shops!
